Become a local for the day and enjoy a traditional fishing adventure on the Amazon River.
One of our most recommended tours, this experience takes you by canoe along the mighty Amazon and into small tributaries where fish gather. Take your handmade fishing rod, attach the bait, and practice patience - you may catch some of the more than 2,000 unique fish species found in the Amazon basin.
Learn local fishing techniques using a simple wooden rod crafted from plant bark, nylon line, hooks, and bait — just as riverside communities have done for generations. With a bit of guidance and luck, you could catch several piranhas within just a couple of hours.
This region of the Amazon is home to nearly 2,000 fish species, including the peacock bass (Cichla monoculus), locally known as tucunaré, the arowana (Osteoglossum bicirrhosum), often called the “dragon fish,” and the impressive paiche (Arapaima gigas), one of the largest freshwater fish in the world.
During this excursion, you may also have the opportunity to spot additional pink river dolphins (Inia geoffrensis) along the way.
