Heliconia Amazon River Lodge operates under sustainable tourism principles, integrating environmental protection, social well-being, and local economic development in the heart of the Peruvian Amazon. Our model seeks to create authentic experiences for visitors while actively contributing to the conservation of the Amazon rainforest and the strengthening of riverside communities.
Heliconia operates with a photovoltaic solar system powered by lithium batteries that provides electricity 24 hours a day.
This solution reduces dependence on fossil fuels and emissions in a remote environment, while also ensuring stable services and satellite connectivity without affecting the ecosystem.
We collaborate with community and private initiatives such as accessing the conserved forest managed by Mr. Alonias and visiting the Monkey Island, contributing to their economic sustainability and the protection of local wildlife.
The excursions include respectful visits to communities such as the Yagua people, promoting cultural exchange, appreciation of traditions, and respect for Amazonian identity.
We actively protect the Yanamono Forest through the reforestation of degraded areas with native species and the management of an Amazonian nursery.
We maintain a strict no-wildlife-contact policy and train our guides in responsible wildlife observation.
The lodge was built following low-impact architectural principles adapted to the Amazonian environment. The structures are raised on stilts to respect the natural water cycles and minimize soil disturbance. Responsibly sourced native wood and bijao leaf roofs woven by local communities were used, integrating traditional construction techniques and maintaining the harmony of the forest landscape.
The excursions allow visitors to purchase handicrafts directly from Indigenous communities and participate in cultural activities, generating direct income for local families.
At Heliconia Amazon River Lodge, we carry out workshops and educational activities in nearby riverside schools to promote respect for wildlife and forest conservation. We contribute to education and the prevention of wildlife trafficking, and help strengthen environmental awareness within the community.
